Ackeem Auguste’s knock has powered a four-wicket victory for Saint Lucia Kings in the CPL 2025 game against Guyana Amazon Warriors.
His 73-run knock has set the pace for Lucia Kings to a thrilling victory in Wednesday’s clash. By this win, they secured two wins out of 5 games and secured second spot in the CPL 2025 points table.
Batting first, Ben McDermott and Kvelon Anderson opened the innings for Warriors while Khary Pierre opened the bowling attack.
Keon Gaston bagged the wicket sof Anderson (5) and McDermott (30) runs and with Khary Pierre picked the wicket of Moeen for duck, Amazon Warriors lost three quick wickets.
They went on to score only 44 runs in the powerplay and also lost the wicket of Hetmyer for 3 runs. However, Shai Hope added up 23 runs before being dismissed by Oshane Thomas.
Iftikhar Ahmed’s 33 runs brough further stability to the side and Shepherd’s 73* and Pretorius 18* has helped the side to post 202 runs in the 20 over innings.
Keon Gaston bagged two wickets while Khary Pierre, David Wiese and Oshane Thomas picked one wicket each.
In the pursuit of chasing 204 run target, Tim Seifert and Johnson Charles opened the innings while Dwaine Pretorius opened the bowling attack.
Jediah Blades got the first breakthrough picking up the wicket of Johnson Charles for 13 runs while Seifert scored 37 runs off 24 deliveries before being dismissed by Tahir. With scoring 86/1 in the powerplay, Kings lost their second wickets for 105 runs.
Despite Ackeem Auguste’s rapid fire knocks, Roston Chase lost the wicket for 12 runs. After the dismissal of Ackeem Augustee for 73 runs, Motie went on to pick the wicket of Tim David for 25 runs.
With contributions form Aaron Jones, David Wiese and Khary Pierre Saint Lucia Kings went on to score 203 runs in the 19th over.
Ackeem Auguste was named as the Player of the match. Speaking on the post match conference, he said, “Good feeling. Thank god for the opportunity to showcase my talent and to my coaches, everybody in the team as well. Just wanted to have an impact today and back myself to do well.”
“Just wanted to play as freely as possible and enjoy. it’s been good (mood in the team). Nice to see the turnout from the fans. My family was there and it was good to have them here and the fans as well,” he concluded.
Saint Lucia Kings will play their next match against St Kitts and Nevis Patriots on August 28 at Daren Sammy National Cricket Stadium.
