Lily Collins, the Emily in Paris star, is making headlines again.
But this time, not for her impeccable fashion statements, or for her travelogue-inspired OTT series; the To The Bone actress recently walked into New York Fashion Week 2025 in a shimmering two-piece outfit that stole the spotlight. And no, it’s not just for the design, but because many people couldn’t help noticing how thin she looked.
Photos from the Calvin Klein show have reignited conversations about her health. As her too-slim-to-be-true frame drew attention, it took the fans back to conversations about her past struggle with an eating disorder – anorexia – which she battled as a teenager, and later openly discussed. So, her recent dramatic weight loss raises the questions: What is this condition? What are the symptoms? And what is the path to recovery?
What happened
At New York Fashion Week (NYFW) recently, Lily Collins attended the Calvin Klein Fall 2025 show wearing a sequined two-piece outfit that revealed her midriff. Photos of her appearance quickly went viral, with many fans and commentators noticing how slim she looked. Some comments expressed admiration for the fashion, while others expressed concern, saying she appeared “painfully thin.” However, this isn’t the first time fans have raised concerns: they recalled her openness about anorexia in past years.

Lily Collins: Her past eating disorder
The Emily in Paris star has been frank about her history with an eating disorder, especially anorexia. Her story has been shared in her memoir Unfiltered: No Shame, No Regrets, Just Me (2017), as well as in interviews.
Lily has said that during her teenage years, she tried to live up to what she saw as “perfection” in the media, and she paid close attention to how she looked and what she ate. Controlling food and body image felt like something she could manage in a time when other parts of life felt unstable.
For the 2017 Netflix film To the Bone, Collins played a character dealing with anorexia. To prepare, she lost weight (reportedly around 20 pounds or more) for the role, all while being mindful of her past struggles. She has said she worked with professionals (nutritionists, medical staff) to ensure safety.
Lily also emphasized in interviews that, though the process was daunting, revisiting those experiences through acting helped her in healing and speaking publicly about eating disorders.
The path to recovery
Collins has said that her recovery is an ongoing process – not something with a clear “endpoint.” In her memoir Unfiltered, and in interviews, she reflected that though she recovered to a healthier relationship with food and body image, the internal pressures never fully disappeared. The Emily in Paris star also stated, “You can exist with your past eating disorder, but you can let it affect you to whatever extent you want.”
Additionally, Lily also shared that at certain points, she feared anorexia might affect her ability to have children – an experience many people with eating disorders share, which underlined the seriousness of the physical impact of eating disorders. However, Collins and her husband, Charlie McDowell, recently became parents to a baby girl, Tove, via surrogacy.
Where Lily Collins stands now
Collins’ appearance at NYFW has drawn attention because of her slimmer look, especially because her past with anorexia is documented, and she has been open about her experience before. Lily has not publicly confirmed that her recent weight loss is related to a relapse or negative health issue yet. There is no public medical statement clarifying how much weight she has lost or whether it was intentional (for fashion, role, personal reasons, etc.).
However, experts concur that recovery from an eating disorder often involves sustained therapy, nutritional guidance, self-acceptance work, and social support. Many who recover emphasize that weight or appearance is only one small piece of health; the internal work (mental, emotional, relational) matters greatly.
