Match Referee Chris Broad Said India has Take over the ICC: Chris Broad, former player of the England team and match referee of the International Cricket Council (ICC), has given such a statement in a recent interview which has created a stir in the cricket world. Chris Broad, father of former England fast bowler Stuart Broad, has made serious allegations against both ICC and BCCI in an interview.

He claimed that today politics has dominated cricket and India has almost captured the ICC. He also shared an interesting anecdote to former Team India captain Sourav Ganguly, which is now widely discussed on social media.

India has taken over the ICC- Chris Broad

Chris Broad said in his statement that after Vince von der Bijl left the post of ICC umpire manager, there were a lot of changes in the organization. He said, “When Vince von der Bijl was in this position, the atmosphere was professional and in the interest of cricket. But after he left, things changed. The management became weak and all the money came to India. Now India has taken over the ICC in many ways. I am happy that I am no longer in that role, because now it is all more linked to politics.”

According to Broad, whereas earlier cricketing decisions were taken impartially, now political influence is clearly visible in the ICC. He expressed concern that now everything is revolving around the power of money and its pressure.

BCCI accused of bias

Chris Broad mentioned a shocking incident in an interview given to Telegraph newspaper. He said that once during an Indian match, the team was behind by 3-4 overs and was certain to be fined. But he got a call from above that “This is India, be a little relaxed.” Broad said, “I was told to take some time out so that no action is taken against India. Then the same situation happened in the next match, but this time Sourav Ganguly did not listen to me. I called again and asked what to do now, then the answer I got was, “Just do as told.”

According to Broad, this was the beginning of the period when politics started taking hold in cricket. He also said that today many officers have either become politically savvy or are afraid to speak the truth.

Broad’s statement created an uproar

This revelation of Chris Broad has become increasingly viral on social media. Many fans and former cricketers are speaking in his support, while some say that it is easy to criticize India but its success cannot be denied.
