India posted a mammoth total against England at the Wankhede Stadium in the second semi-final of T20 World Cup 2026. Batting first, the Indian batters attacked the English bowlers from the start and ensured the scoreboard was ticking quickly.

A brilliant knock was played by Sanju Samson who smashed 89 from just 42 balls and his 360-degree play ensured that English bowlers struggled to keep him out. Multiple boundaries and sixes were dispatched all over the ground as the Wankhede Stadium cheered for the wicketkeeper-batter.

The Indian side got substantial contributions from all the other batters. Ishan Kishan's blistering 39 from 18 balls ensured the Indian run rate did not dip and the final fireworks were provided by Shivam Dube whose towering sixes landed in the stands and excited the Wankhede crowd.

Finishing touches by Hardik Pandya and Tilak Varma made sure the Indian score crossed the 250 mark in the end, as they ended up with a score of 253/7 from 20 overs and set a massive target of 254 runs for the opposition in a T20 World Cup knockout fixture.

England faces a tough challenge in chasing such a huge total in the semifinal match. Currently they are at 119-4 after 10 overs.

What is the Highest Successful Chase at Wankhede in T20Is?

Although Wankhede stadium is accustomed to high scoring matches, it is not easy to chase such a huge total. The highest successful run chase at the Wankhede Stadium in T20 Internationals is 230 runs, which England managed against South Africa in 2016 and that was a memorable run chase at the venue.

The boundaries at the Wankhede Stadium are extremely short, and the good batting pitch ensures it remains a fortress of high-scoring matches. Chasing a total of over 250 runs will be something extra special.

England will need a brilliant performance from their top-order and one of their star batsmen to chase down the score and book their place in the final of the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026.
