There is a marble dumping yard in Ajmer, Rajasthan, the video of which is going viral on social media. This marble dumping yard looks exactly like Switzerland, where snow-white powder is scattered all around. This white powder is a slurry of marble cuttings, which has been accumulating here for many years. Because of this, snow-like mountains have formed here. For this reason this area looks like a white field.
At present, this marble dumping yard of Ajmer has become the center of discussion, where many people from other states are coming to visit. Many people are making reels and taking photos here but there are many people who are avoiding going to this ground. Many people believe that going to this ground can harm health. In addition, the large mountains of marble slurry draw attention to the problem of polluted environment.
The dumping yard of marble slurry may look attractive, but going here can have an adverse effect on our health. Therefore, people going here should take some precautions. Now the question arises that what could be the threat to health by going to this dumping yard.
Difficulty in breathing – In this marble dumping yard, small particles of dust keep flowing in the air, due to which people may have trouble in breathing. If any person has gone here then he should wear a mask to avoid air pollution. If you are having trouble breathing, you should come out of this yard as soon as possible.
Contaminated water – Marble dumping grounds also contain water, which people should avoid touching. This water is contaminated due to poisonous chemicals. Touching it can cause skin diseases to a person. This place may look beautiful and attractive in videos and pictures but this place raises environmental concerns.
No trees or plants grow near this marble dumping yard, because the land and air here are completely contaminated. According to a report by the Central University of Rajasthan, the TDS of water within a radius of 6 kilometers of this place is 10 times higher than normal. The normal TDS of water is (500 mg/L), whereas the TDS of the water here is above 15,000-20,000 (mg/L), which can be as salty as sea water or even more.
These figures are worrying, making us think whether it is worth visiting this place. However, there are many people who are visiting here and sharing their photos and videos on social media.
