Harsh Goenka, Chairperson of RPG group
Harsh Goenka, chairman of RPG Enterprises, has shared a social media post drawing parallels between major global and national disruptions over the past decade, using a wedding scenario as an analogy.

In the post, Goenka highlighted how different crises have affected everyday life in contrasting ways. Referring to Demonetisation in India 2016, he wrote that while households had arrangements like gas and guests ready for weddings, cash shortages created difficulties.

He then moved to the COVID-19 pandemic in 2021, noting that although cash and essential supplies were available, social restrictions meant gatherings such as weddings could not take place with guests.

Extending the analogy to the current geopolitical situation, Goenka referenced ongoing Gulf tensions, suggesting that while cash and guests may be available, fuel constraints could become a challenge.

Adding to the humour, Goenka’s post also sparked reactions from social media users who shared their own imagined scenarios for 2031.

One user wrote, “Cash available. Gas available. Guests ready but bridegroom and bride get married virtually,” pointing to increasing digital dependence.

Another added, “2031 – God Only Knows: Wedding at home. Cash ready. Guests present. Gas available. But bride and groom attending via Zoom because they’re stuck in traffic for 5 days,” offering a satirical take on urban challenges and congestion.

A third user joked, “2031 – God Only Knows: Wedding at home. Cash ready. Guests present. Gas available. But no bride and groom — stuck in virtual reality metaverse login queue,” highlighting concerns around increasing reliance on virtual environments.

Another quipped, “2031 – Political Season: Wedding at home. Guests present. Gas available. But mandap converted into election rally,” adding a political twist to the imagined disruptions.

Yet another user added, “2031 – Subscription Wedding: Everything ready… but forgot to renew,” taking a dig at the growing subscription-based economy.
