Etihad Airways, the national flag carrier of the UAE, just announced that it is stepping up its premium offering on flights between Abu Dhabi and two of India’s busiest hubs, Mumbai and New Delhi.

As per the announcement made by the carrier, starting 1 May 2026, every flight on these routes will feature lie-flat Business Class seats, along with a new First Class product on select services.

The move signals how important the Indian market remains for Etihad, which currently serves 11 destinations across the country.

Premium Cabins Now Available on All Daily Flights

Both Mumbai and New Delhi are served four times a day from Abu Dhabi. Two of these daily flights will now use the airline’s new Airbus A321LR, while the remaining services will continue to operate with wide-body aircraft such as the Boeing 787, Boeing 777, and Airbus A350.

What this means in practical terms is simple. Every premium passenger on these routes will now have access to fully flat beds, direct aisle access, and upgraded dining and service.

Travellers connecting onwards to destinations like London, Paris, Zurich, Geneva, New York, or Toronto will also enjoy a more consistent premium experience across their entire journey.

A321LR Introduces a True First Class Experience

The Airbus A321LR is a narrow-body aircraft, but Etihad has designed it to feel more like a long-haul wide-body jet.

The aircraft features two private First Suites with sliding doors, offering space to dine, work, or relax in privacy. Each suite converts into a fully flat bed and includes a large 20-inch 4K screen, Bluetooth connectivity, wireless charging, and premium bedding.

Business Class includes 14 lie-flat seats, all facing the window and offering direct aisle access. Expect upgraded dining, luxury amenities, and a quieter cabin environment.

Economy passengers also benefit from improved comfort, with ergonomic seating and 4K touchscreens offering a wide entertainment selection, including Bollywood and Hollywood films.

The same aircraft already operates on Etihad’s Abu Dhabi–Kolkata route.

Ground Experience Also Gets an Upgrade

Passengers travelling in First Deluxe and Business Deluxe can also expect premium services on the ground.

These include chauffeur transfers, priority airport assistance, and access to Etihad’s concierge service for personalised travel support.

The idea is to reduce friction throughout the journey, from home pick-up to final arrival.
