Tottenham Hotspur's battle against the drop is being further complicated by their mounting injury concerns. It is a problem that has plagued both Thomas Frank and Igor Tudor throughout the campaign, and new head coach Roberto De Zerbi is now the latest man tasked with steering Spurs to safety.

De Zerbi confirmed that Rodrigo Bentancur would return to the matchday squad for the clash against the Seagulls, though it remains unclear whether he will start or feature from the bench. The Uruguayan midfielder has been sidelined since January with a hamstring problem but has been back in training in recent weeks. The Spurs boss also confirmed that Yves Bissouma would be available, however the match would come too soon for Guglielmo Vicario.

The Italian goalkeeper underwent hernia surgery during the international break. De Zerbi said: "Bentancur is available to play. I don't know if he'll start the game or not. Bissouma is available but Vicario no. [Antonin] Kinsky played very well in Sunderland but Vicario is another important player for us, big experience, character and personality."

Cristian Romero's campaign is now over after sustaining an injury in the defeat to Sunderland, following a collision with Antonin Kinsky caused by Brian Brobbey.

De Zerbi said: "Romero, I'm really sorry for him and his injury. First of all, non-stop, the people have to know he's suffering because of this injury and because he can't play anymore for us in this season."

"He's a great captain for us and for Tottenham. We have to be positive, we have Radu Dragusin and Kevin Danso, they are very good to play and give us quality with the ball."

Wilson Odobert, Dejan Kulusevski, James Maddison, Ben Davies, and Mohammed Kudus will all be absent from the match at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium as they continue their rehabilitation from injury. Spurs face a significant injury headache ahead of this weekend's clash, while their opponents find themselves in a far more favourable position.

Fabio Hurzeler's outfit remain firmly in contention for European football next season, sitting just two points behind Chelsea in sixth place.

The Seagulls will, however, be forced to manage without Stefanos Tzimas, who sustained an ACL injury earlier in the campaign and has since undergone surgery.

Adam Webster is another long-term casualty for Brighton and will play no part this weekend. James Milner is also set to sit out, with Hurzeler confirming: "He is still going to be out, but he is getting close."

Lewis Dunk has been handed a suspension after accumulating ten yellow cards and will therefore miss the trip to Spurs.
