In Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh, the discovery of a 15-year-old wrestler's body, found severed in two near the Court Road bridge on the railway tracks, has caused a stir. Authorities suspect that the young athlete may have been struck by a train, although investigations are ongoing.
The deceased has been identified as Anant Barsar, son of Dharmveer, from the village of Datheda in the Jhijhana police station area of Shamli district. Anant was a ninth-grade student and had earned several medals at both state and national levels in under-15 wrestling. He had been missing since Wednesday afternoon.
According to police reports, family members indicated that Anant had left home following a reprimand on Wednesday. Around 1:10 AM that night, the pilot of the Dehradun-Amritsar train alerted authorities about a body on the tracks. Upon arrival, police found the body in two parts, leading to an investigation by the Government Railway Police (GRP).
The discovery of Anant's body has raised numerous questions, particularly since the area near the Court Road bridge is known for slow train speeds. The police are not treating this as a mere accident and are exploring various angles. The GRP is examining the train's speed, the pilot's report, and the conditions at the scene.
Under the guidance of his uncle, Sitam Singh, Anant was building a promising career in wrestling. He had recently won a gold medal at a state-level competition in Varanasi and secured a bronze medal at a national event in Karnataka. Authorities are thoroughly investigating all aspects of this tragic incident.
On Thursday afternoon, Anant's family brought his body back to their village of Datheda for the last rites. The atmosphere was filled with grief as they mourned their loss. It was reported that Anant was training at an academy in Baraut under coach Gaurav Kumar. During the search for him, his mobile phone was found and turned on, leading to calls from family members that helped identify him.
Anant Barsar had already made a name for himself in the wrestling community at a young age. Winning both gold and bronze medals had sparked hopes for a bright future, but this tragic event has left his family and the entire sports community in shock.
