Now is the time for Premium Bonds customers to check their numbers as NS&I has announced the prize winners for the May draw. There are many big prizes in each monthly draw, for amounts such as £50,000 and £100,000, as well as two £1million prizes.
The two £1million prize winners in the May draw were from Highlands And Islands and from Suffolk. The winner from the Highlands And Islands region won with lucky Bond 643SE292364, which they bought in September 2025 when they bought £15,000 in Bonds.
They had £23,500 in Bonds going into the May draw. The other top prize winner, from Suffolk, had winning Bond 567VN857011, which they bought in January 2024, when they purchased £50,000 in Bonds. They had £50,000 in Bonds going into this month's draw.
The maximum amount you can hold is £50,000 in Bonds. Many savers set up their accounts so any winnings are used to buy more Bonds, increasing their chances of another win.
Most prizes in the draw are for small amounts such as £25 and £50, with the odds of winning a prize for each £1 Bond currently at 23,000 to one. The prize fund rate for the scheme is now 3.3 percent.
Both the odds of winning and the prize rate fell from the April draw. Every £1 Bond has the same chance of being paired with a prize.
There were some big prize winners in May who held very old Bonds. One winner from Bradford won £5,000 for a Bond they purchased back in December 1968.
Another person won a £5,000 prize for a Bond they purchased back in October 1967. Meanwhile, some winners with very small holdings took home a big prize.
One customer from the West Midlands with just £10 in Bonds won a £5,000 prize, while a person from Wiltshire with just £100 won a £10,000 prize. There were a number of savers with three-figure total holdings who scooped a large prize.
The biggest prize among this group was a £50,000 prize won by a saver from Lincolnshire. They held £935 in Bonds going into the May draw. They purchased their winning Bond in December 1997, when they bought £50 in Bonds.
