On the same day that party leader Vijay took the oath of office as Chief Minister, S. Keertana was sworn in as a minister in the TVK-led government of Tamil Nadu. She is one of the nine ministers who joined the newly formed cabinet, taking the oath at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium alongside N. Anand, Adhav Arjun, K.A. Sengottaiyan, P. Venkataramanan, R. Nirmalkumar, Rajmohan, T.K. Prabhu, and K.G. Anuraj.
After her swearing-in, Keertana expressed confidence that the new government would set a precedent in governance. She remarked on the uniqueness of the situation, noting that no other state has a cabinet minister like her. 'No one would give us such an opportunity. We will demonstrate to the world how efficiently we can run the government,' she stated.
Keertana is the newly elected MLA from Sivakasi, often referred to as the 'fireworks capital of India.' At just 29 years old, she is the youngest member of the cabinet and has recently won the Sivakasi seat by a margin of 11,697 votes. She is the only woman in Vijay's cabinet and the first female MLA from Sivakasi, breaking a nearly seven-decade-long male dominance in the constituency.
Fluent in several languages, Keertana has garnered attention for her strong command of Hindi, particularly in Tamil Nadu, where language is a sensitive and politically significant issue. Vijay took the oath as the 13th Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, marking the beginning of a new political chapter in the state. He thanked the public for their mandate and called for a united effort to establish a government based on secularism and social justice. Describing this moment as a new beginning, he humbly stated that he is an ordinary person who will avoid false promises and focus only on achievable goals.
