Christopher Nolan revealed his intentions for his new movie, The Odysseyduring a 60 Minutes interview with correspondent Scott Pelley about the IMAX film.

As per the clips received by Varietythe Oscar-winning filmmaker said, “In taking on ‘The Odyssey,’ it does become about scale. It needed to be the biggest film that we had done. It needed to be challenging to all of us, because that’s the nature of the story.”

Pelley watched a clip of Damon as Odysseus steering a ship through turbulent waters and said, “Looks like you nearly drowned Matt Damon.”

“We certainly put him through his paces,” Nolan replied with a laugh.

Meanwhile, in an entire different interview, Matt Damon agreed, “It was the hardest movie I’ve ever done by far. Not even close.”

He also notes that despite its complexity, 70mm IMAX offers up to three times the resolution of digital, which keeps the format relevant for filmmakers.
