Meanwhile, an alert regarding heatwaves and severe heat conditions has been issued for several states, including Western Rajasthan, Punjab, and Haryana. Weather Warning: Conditions across the country are changing rapidly. Currently, two distinct weather patterns are being observed across the nation. The Meteorological Department has issued an alert for heavy rainfall and thunderstorms across 15 states, including Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and Punjab. A warning for severe storms has once again been issued for the states of North India. The Meteorological Department forecasts that several states may experience heavy rainfall within the next 10 hours.
Consequently, a significant drop in temperature is also expected due to the rains. Conversely, in most parts of Central India—as well as in Gujarat, Rajasthan, and several adjoining areas of Haryana—temperatures have been recorded between 40°C and 45°C.
Parts of the plains of Northwest and Central India are likely to experience conditions ranging from heatwaves to severe heatwaves this week. Additionally, isolated instances of heavy to very heavy rainfall are likely in Northeast India, the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal, and Kerala over the next 3–4 days. Delhi-NCR Weather
An alert has been issued for Delhi-NCR regarding strong dust storms and gusty winds. The Meteorological Department has warned of thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and light rainfall during the night. The maximum temperature is expected to reach up to 42°C. However, cloudy skies, thunderstorms, and lightning are likely.
Uttar Pradesh Weather
Several districts in Uttar Pradesh are currently experiencing intense heat. According to the Meteorological Department, the weather in UP is likely to remain dry in the coming days. Strong heatwaves may prevail in certain areas of Southern Uttar Pradesh.
Rajasthan Weather
An increase in temperature is expected across most parts of Rajasthan. According to the IMD center in Jaipur, temperatures in the state are set to rise once again starting May 17. On May 17 and 18, isolated thunderstorms accompanied by thunder may occur in parts of the Bikaner division, the Shekhawati region, and the northern areas of the Jaipur and Bharatpur divisions. During this period, strong winds gusting between 40 and 50 kilometers per hour are expected, along with light drizzle.
Weather in Bihar
A warning for heavy rainfall and thunderstorms has been issued for several districts in Bihar, including Gaya, Jehanabad, Aurangabad, West Champaran, East Champaran, Bhagalpur, Purnia, Munger, Rohtas, and Kaimur. In Patna, the maximum temperature is expected to reach up to 41 degrees Celsius on May 17 and 18.
Rainfall Warning for These States
According to the Meteorological Department, an alert has been issued for heavy rainfall in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, and Sikkim. Additionally, heavy rainfall is likely to be observed in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Kerala, Lakshadweep, and Tamil Nadu. On May 18, heavy rainfall is specifically forecast for the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Assam, Meghalaya, Kerala, and Tamil Nadu.
Warning for Severe Heatwave:
The heat intensity in the plains is set to increase. The Meteorological Department has stated that in Uttar Pradesh, severe heatwave conditions are likely to prevail in certain areas between May 19 and 22.
Furthermore, severe heatwave conditions are anticipated in Western Rajasthan on May 21 and 22. Additionally, the impact of a heatwave may be felt across Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, and Chhattisgarh between May 18 and 22.
