After bringing Mahmudullah on board for mentoring and coaching roles, officials from the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) have expressed their interest in recruiting Mushfiqur Rahim for similar positions, should he be keen to join. 

The question of whether Mushfiqur will follow in Mahmudullah's footsteps post-retirement has sparked quite a bit of chatter, especially since Mahmudullah was recently appointed as the batting coach for the Bangladesh A team’s tour of Australia. 

It wasn’t too surprising to see Mahmudullah step into this role, as he had been gearing up for it for a while. The BCB had also previously named him as a mentor for the Under-19 cricketers.

Faim Sinha, the chairman of BCB's game development, hinted that they plan to extend a similar offer to Mushfiqur once he hangs up his boots from international cricket. Currently, Mushfiqur is only playing Test matches while also participating in domestic competitions. 

"Mahmudullah, Mushfiq, those who have played at this level in our country, who played international cricket for so many years at the top level and their caliber, presenting that experience to our players, making that arrangement, is our responsibility," Faim told Cricbuzz recently.

"Of course, I mean, we will definitely say this, if Mushfiq has a coaching interest or interested in working with cricket, with the experience he has of playing international cricket for so many years, or the progress in modern-day cricket that he has witnessed with his own eyes throughout his entire career, we will definitely want Mushfiq to come here and contribute, it will be our failure if we cannot bring him in," he said.

Faim mentioned that they are in the process of forming a three-member technical committee to evaluate the performance of local coaches, emphasizing that this is an area that needs significant attention moving forward. 

In summary, the Bangladesh Cricket Board is keen on involving seasoned players in coaching roles after their playing days are over. Following Mahmudullah’s recent appointment, the board is eager to offer Mushfiqur Rahim a similar opportunity, believing that his wealth of experience will greatly benefit future teams. Additionally, BCB is committed to enhancing local coaching standards by establishing a technical committee to assess coach performance.
