TV actress Dipika Kakar and her husband Shoaib Ibrahim often face trolling on social media over their interfaith marriage and reports of her name change. Now, her Sasural Simar Ka co-star Shagufta Ali has come out in her support. Defending Dipika, Shagufta slammed the trolls and said that her marriage and personal choices are nobody else's business.
In an interview with Siddharth Kannan, Shagufta Ali said, "Dipika got married by her own choice. She is happy with her husband and knows what she wants for her future. If she is happy, why should it bother anyone else? Are you paying her expenses? Are you providing her food and daily needs or funding her luxurious lifestyle? If a husband and wife are happy together, why do other people have a problem? Just let her live her life in peace."
Shagufta slams trolls targeting Dipika-ShoaibShagufta advised the trolls that if they don't like Dipika and Shoaib's vlogs, they are under no obligation to watch them. "If you don't like watching their vlogs, then don't watch them. But why troll them over everything? You always have the choice to simply skip their videos," she said.
Shagufta, who shared screen space with Dipika in the daily soap, hit back at trolls for targeting the actress over her personal choices and marriage to Shoaib Ibrahim. As per reports, Dipika changed her name to Faiza after marriage with Shoaib Ibrahim.
On Dipika's name change row"Whether she had a nikah or a registered marriage, it was completely her personal choice. She also continued working under the name Dipika Kakar. Shoaib has never insisted that people stop calling her Dipika and only call her Faiza. If the couple has no problem with it, why should anyone else?"
The veteran actress also pointed out how the constant trolling has affected both Shoaib and Dipika personally. She even spoke about the couple getting emotional during their vlogs. "Some people simply can't accept seeing others happy. I've always believed that. It's their life, so let them live it the way they want. In fact, I feel they should stop making vlogs altogether. Once you put your life out in public, people expect answers for everything. The trolling became so intense that both husband and wife broke down in tears. It's gone too far. It's their life—let them live it in peace," concluded Shagufta Ali.
Dipika and Shoaib first met on the sets of Sasural Simar Ka. After being friends for some time, the duo got married in 2018. They are now parents to a son, Ruhaan.
