New Delhi: On the occasion of Independence Day, Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has made special arrangements for the people living in Delhi and the guests attending the celebrations. Let us tell you, on August 15, the metro service in the capital will be started much earlier than normal days. According to DMRC, metro operations will start from all terminal stations at 4 am.

The purpose of this special arrangement is to provide convenient public transport to the special guests, invitees and common travelers arriving for the Independence Day celebrations to be held at the Red Fort.

In how many minutes will the metro run?

DMRC said that under the regular timetable, trains will run at an interval of 30 minutes on all metro corridors till the normal revenue service starts. After this the metro will be operated as per the normal schedule. Passengers have been advised to plan their journey keeping this particular timetable in mind.

Provision of 1.30 lakh pre-sold QR tickets

Along with this, DMRC has provided 1.30 lakh special pre-vended QR tickets to the Defense Ministry for the special guests and invitees attending the Independence Day celebrations. These special QR tickets will be made available at designated metro stations to invitees holding valid physical admit cards. The travel expenses incurred through these tickets will be reimbursed to DMRC by the Ministry of Defence. This means that special facility to travel by metro will be available for the people invited to the function.

These stations will be close to go to Red Fort

The main event of the Independence Day celebrations will be held at the Red Fort. During this period, Red Fort, Jama Masjid and Delhi Gate metro stations will be the major and nearest options to reach the venue. However, due to security arrangements, the rules to entry and exit of stations may be changed.

DMRC Principal Executive Director (Corporate Communications) Anuj Dayal, while sharing information about the special metro system, has appealed to the passengers to follow the safety instructions and advisory of the metro administration while traveling on Independence Day.
