₹500 notes were discovered attached to several answer sheets following the evaluation of the UP Board's Class 10 and 12 compartment examinations. The Board of Secondary Education has now initiated an investigation into the matter.

Serious questions regarding the examination system in Muzaffarnagar have arisen following the UP Board's Class 10 and 12 compartment exams. ₹500 notes were found attached to multiple answer sheets after they had been sent to other districts for evaluation. Upon the matter coming to light, the Uttar Pradesh Board of Secondary Education launched an inquiry. Consequently, the examination center in-charge and the principals of the schools whose students' answer sheets contained the money have been summoned to provide an explanation.

₹500 notes found in over 100 board answer sheets

Compartment and improvement examinations for High School (Class 10) and Intermediate (Class 12) were conducted in July at the Government Inter College (GIC) in Muzaffarnagar, with approximately 700 examinees participating. After the exams, when the answer sheets were sent to another district for evaluation, the presence of currency notes within the sheets was discovered. Reports indicate that ₹500 notes were found attached to more than 100 answer sheets, linked to 12 students. The discovery of money in this manner raised suspicions of the use of unfair means, and the matter was reported to officials at the Board of Secondary Education in Prayagraj.

Suspicion of mass cheating

Given the gravity of the situation, the Muzaffarnagar examination center in-charge and the principals of the concerned schools were summoned for a hearing at the Regional Secretary's office in Meerut. During the hearing held on Tuesday, the statements of all 12 principals, as well as that of Subhash Chandra—the principal of GIC Muzaffarnagar and the examination center in-charge—were recorded. Regional Secretary Jyoti Prasad reprimanded the principals during the proceedings. Suspicions of mass cheating were also raised in connection with the matter. Following the conclusion of the hearing, the regional office submitted a report to higher authorities; a final decision on the issue will now be taken at the higher level.

Principals of these schools summoned

The principals summoned to the Meerut regional office for the hearing included those from Shri Kundkund Jain Inter College (Khatauli), GIC Badsu, Aadesh Inter College, Shri Prannath Inter College (Ratanpuri), Sir Syed Inter College (Budhana), and SDS Inter College (Titavi). Additionally, principals from Kisan Mazdoor Inter College (Jasoi), GIC Kanya Inter College (Sisauli), SD Inter College, National Inter College (Dadhedu), and Bharat Inter College (Nangla Mandaud) were also summoned.
