The match-fixing is back in the news again after a local player made damaging claims during a recent sting operation. Vansh Bedi, according to several reports, reported a suspicious approach during the recent Delhi Premier League season.

Bedi, who was playing for Central Delhi Kings, informed the authorities about an attempt by a player to fix games. DDCA secretary Ashok Sharma said, “Vansh promptly reported an approach to the Anti-Corruption Unit by a player who was also playing in the T20 league.”

The Delhi & District Cricket Association sought intervention from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). Vansh was part of the Chennai Super Kings squad a few years ago but didn’t play any games. He competed in just one T20 game for Delhi against Arunachal Pradesh but didn’t bat. The 24-year-old is yet to play any first-class or List A games for his side.

Rachit Bhatia makes explosive claims

Nagaland cricketer Rachit Bhatia was recently caught in a sting operation by Tehelka. The 29-year-old played six first-class games and two T20I games for the domestic side, and his last appearance came in 2019.

In the sting operation, Bhatia revealed, “I had fixed five matches during the IPL 2025 season after passing information about CSK to bookies in London via a social media app. I earned 60 Lakhs per match, making three crores from those five games.”

He also said, “I was also engaged in spot fixing during the Syed Mushtaq Ali tournament in 2018/19, in which I played and deliberately bowled two wide balls and got a total of 16 Lakhs for it.”

Rachit also claimed that he had bribed his way into playing domestic cricket and also explained how fixing is done. “If you want to fix matches, then we need to get our player in the team, and once he is selected, both match-fixing and spot-fixing are possible. The rate for spot-fixing is INR 1 crore per game,” he mentioned.

“Sharing inside information regarding the likely XI ahead of the toss will get you INR 60 lakh per game.”
