India’s compound women’s team has clinched the gold medal with a world record-equalling score of 238, finishing on top of the podium to the sound of the national anthem.

Jyothi Surekha Vennam, Chikhita Taniprathi and Prathika Pradeep hardly broke a sweat in the final. Calm, composed and completely in the zone, the Indian trio produced a clinical performance to seal the title.

China began the final end with a 10, but then slipped with two 9s. India responded in emphatic fashion, firing three straight 10s and sending their coach into wild celebrations.

China finished with three 10s, but India matched them shot for shot. Three more perfect 10s from the Indian team saw them equal the world record and secure the gold medal.
