Kolkata: Brazil have asked the organisers to allow them to make 11 substitutions during their friendly against India at the Salt Lake stadium here on Saturday.

Brazil agreed to use a maximum of eight substitutes during the match coordination meeting on Friday but there was a change later in the evening. According to sources, Brazil returned to say they wanted to use 11 substitutions as coach Carlo Ancelotti is keen to try out all new players that he called for this FIFA international match window .

According to Law 3 of Laws of the Game, “in Senior A international team matches, a maximum of fifteen substitutes may be named of which a maximum eight may be used, unless the two teams agree that more may be used, up to a maximum of eleven, in which case the referee must be informed before the match."

For India’s first friendly against Panama, the teams agreed on eight substitutes but used five each.

If Brazil’s training session on the eve of the clash is any indication, Ancelotti is likely to start with at least four high-profile players: Marquinhos , Vinicius Jr , Bruno Guimaraes and Estevao, while Pedro Morisco has been confirmed as the goalkeeper.

"I told all the young players who are set to play -- or who played in the first match -- that for them, this isn't an exam; it’s an opportunity to showcase the quality they possess. The key is to approach it all with a calm mindset, because it’s not a test for them,” said Ancelotti.
