Bathinda : Prison authorities reportedly seized 20 mobile phones from Faridkot Jail and registered a case against 10 inmates under the Prisons Act .
In a letter to the Faridkot district police , Jaswant Singh , the assistant superintendent at Faridkot Jail, reported the seizure during a search of various barracks.
Faridkot DSP Avtar Singh Rajpal told TOI that, acting on the jail authorities’ communication, a case under Section 42/52A of the Prisons Act was registered against 10 inmates at the Faridkot City police station . He added that further investigations are underway.
Sections 42 and 52-A of the Prisons Act pertain to the unauthorised introduction or possession of prohibited items—such as mobile phones and communication devices—inside correctional facilities.
