Haryana gangster , one of India’s most wanted fugitives, has been detained by US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in Nevada, along with his associate Neeraj Faridpuria, officials have confirmed. Bhau, whose real name is Himanshu Ritoliya, is wanted in 18 criminal cases in India and has been the subject of an Interpol Red Notice since August 2023.
The US government’s online detainee locator listed two Indian-born men, Himanshu Sigroha and Neeraj Kaushik, in ICE custody at the Henderson Detention Center in Henderson, Nevada, near Las Vegas, when checked on Friday night. Their cases are being handled by ICE’s Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) office in Las Vegas. Officials identified the two detainees as Bhau and his associate Faridpuria. A search for Himanshu Ritoliya, the name used in Indian reports, returned no record in the detainee locator.
No US criminal charges found
The ICE listing indicates that both men are in immigration custody. No US criminal charges against either man have been found so far. Neither ICE nor the FBI has issued a public statement on the arrests. Bhau, who hails from Rohtak in Haryana, faces multiple cases in India, including murder, attempted murder, extortion, intimidation and forgery.
Authorities tracked him to Las Vegas and arrested him on Thursday, October 22. India is seeking to expedite his deportation proceedings, and a team of Indian officers may travel to the United States in connection with the process.
Why was Neeraj Faridpuria detained?
Faridpuria was detained after removing an ankle monitor, according to the information provided. He had been taken into custody earlier this year and later released on bail. His detention alongside Bhau has brought renewed attention to the gang's activities and the cases registered against its members in India.
Bhau gang linked to high-profile crimes
Bhau's gang has been linked to several high-profile crimes in north India. In August 2025, the gang claimed responsibility for firing outside the Gurugram residence of . Indian investigators are likely to closely monitor the immigration proceedings involving Bhau and Faridpuria as they seek to bring both men back to India.
Deportation or extradition: What happens next?
The case highlights the role of US immigration proceedings in the return of Indian fugitives. Indian investigators have increasingly pursued immigration-related routes to bring wanted gangsters back from the United States. Removal through the immigration system can be faster than formal extradition under the 1997 India-US extradition treaty, which involves a lengthy court process.
A recent example is Anmol Bishnoi, who was detained in the United States in 2024 and deported to India on November 19, 2025. The National Investigation Agency (NIA) arrested him upon his arrival in New Delhi. However, Bhau and Faridpuria's next steps will depend on the outcome of their immigration cases. Any asylum application or other request for relief before a US immigration judge could affect the proceedings.
