TRICHY: A 21-year-old college student was stabbed to death in Perambalur district on Sunday night, allegedly by the father of a 12-year-old girl, after the family learned that the youth was in a relationship with her. The Perambalur police on Monday arrested the girl’s father and mother in connection with the murder.




The deceased was identified as S Abimanyu, 21. An MCA student at a private college, he worked part-time as a car driver for the girl’s 45-year-old father.




During this period, he got into a relationship with his employer’s daughter, a Class VII student, and reportedly bought her a mobile phone to stay in touch with her.




On Sunday night, after the girl’s parents found out about the relationship, they confronted Abimanyu at his house. During a heated argument, the girl’s father allegedly assaulted him with an iron rod and then stabbed him with a knife. The girl’s 31-year-old mother was also present.




“The youth succumbed to injuries on the way to Perambalur Government Hospital. There is no caste motive in the murder, as the accused and the deceased belong to the same community,” a senior police officer said.




The Kaikalathur police have registered a case and are investigating.
